American Auditory Society Conference 2024

Audiology doctoral student, Makenzie Meadows, presented her clinical research projects at the American Auditory Society conference in Scottsdale, AZ.

Makenzie interviewed patients who suffer from an unexplainable hearing disability about their experiences seeking hearing healthcare. She found that patients report dismissive healthcare providers who downplay or disregard their hearing concerns when hearing tests come back “normal”. She also found that patients don’t feel like that hearing tests actually test their primary concern, and that patients will seek many providers on their journey to better hearing healthcare. These findings can help audiologists be better care providers.
